Time machine backup external hard drive error
Hello,
While in a hurry to catch a flight I accidentally unplugged my external hard drive (which I use for time machine backups) before ejecting. Now home, the time machine backup doesn't recognize my external drive. I went into disk utility to try to repair the disk. Here is what it says:
Verifying and repairing partition map for “Time Machine External Hard Drive”Checking prerequisitesChecking the partition listAdjusting partition map to fit whole disk as requiredChecking for an EFI system partitionChecking the EFI system partition’s sizeChecking the EFI system partition’s file systemChecking the EFI system partition’s folder contentChecking all HFS data partition loader spacesChecking booter partitionsReviewing boot support loadersChecking Core Storage Physical Volume partitionsUpdating Windows boot.ini files as requiredThe partition map appears to be OK
Verify and Repair volume “Time Machine”Repairing file system.File system check exit code is 8.Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.Error: Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.
I could really use some help as to how I should proceed. Any Advice?
